ABOUT THE FRIENDS

The Friends of King’s was founded in 1976.  In the Introductory Letter and the first Annual Report, Graeme Cranch set out the principal objectives of The Friends. These were to assist the Governing body by fundraising and rallying volunteers to support specific school projects, and to bring the parents together so that they could form closer connections both with each other and with the school.  This philosophy and these objectives are still very much at the core of what we do.

Since its inception, the Friends has raised over £1.3m and has connected thousands of parents along the way.

Funds raised from our events are used in a number of ways. Substantial sums are allocated to special projects, facilities and equipment for the school across areas such as sports, drama and music. A significant portion of funds raised provide bursaries and we also support the King’s partnership and outreach programme, which ensures that the school and it’s students continue to play an active role in our local community beyond the school.

Our event programme is vast, and is only possible due to our fantastic committees and volunteers who make them happen.

We invite everyone to get involved or just come along, take part and support our events.  Your enthusiasm and help no matter how great or small is valued and appreciated.  If you would like to get involved, would like to find out more or have ideas to share we would love to hear from you.

To find out about ways to get involved, please contact Anna and Bryony, our Vice Chairs.

We look forward to seeing you at our events soon.
