50th Anniversary

Founded in 1976, The Friends of King’s has played a vital role in supporting the school, raising funds for important projects. One if its earliest fundraising successes was the creation of the Gibbs Pavilion on Colman’s Field, a project that served generations of pupils at King’s.

Nearly fifty years on, we have the opportunity to continue this proud tradition. The King’s Cricket Pavilion, at the heart of sporting life at the school, is in need of refurbishment. By coming together once again, we can raise the funds required to renew this important space ensuring it continues to support pupils, teams, and the wider King’s community for years to come.

Designed by George Arthur Lansdown in 1914, the King’s Cricket Pavilion straddles Wrights Alley. It has witnessed countless sporting fixtures, either side on both the 1st XV pitch and playing fields, memorable tries have been scored, and cricket centuries made. More than a building, it represents tradition and sporting excellence.
