Community Tea
The Friends of King’s Community Tea takes place in the school dining hall on the afternoon of the last Sunday of the autumn term.
In excess of 200 elderly guests are invited from local care homes, retirement homes and community organisations and groups. We organise transport to get them to and from the event, and the guests enjoy sherry, tea, sandwiches and Christmas cakes while being entertained by Christmas readings, and carols from the junior school choir. Every guest leaves with a gift and handwritten card.
We rely on a large team of parent and teacher volunteers from the school community to provide transport, refreshments, gifts and to look after guests on the day as table hosts and kitchen assistants. The event itself is organised throughout the autumn term by a small committee of parent volunteers.
